there are only two holes it would fit in.....one is your butt. And if you put a tampon in your butt you should probably be wearing a helmet.

yes you did put it in the right hole. menstrual blood can sometimes have a dark and brownish color. dont always think that just because it is blood that it has to be red like it would as if coming from a cut. you are also shedding your uterine lining when you menstruate. that is the reason for the dark color.
as for the pain you could be putting it in too far. you may not be positioning yourself right and pushing the tampon into your cervix. you have 2 holes, one closer to your front and one closer to the back. its not that hard to tell the difference. i dont know of any medical case where the 2 were switched around. good luck.

Sometimes the blood is brown. I know, gross right? Did you remember to dispose of the cardboard. The first time i used one i didn't know about that, and it hurt. The wrong size can hurt too. After you get use to it it wont be so bad. And dint let people make you feel stupid about not knowing if it was the right hole. The forget what it was like to be so young, and the others are men.

It shouldn't hurt very bad if you do it right. I think it would hurt alot more if you put it in the wrong hole, seeing that the other one is not meant to expand to accomodate such a thing. If there was blood (brown just means that the blood was in your body longer) you probably had it right. if no blood leaked into your underwear, then theres another clue you had it right.

You have to make sure you put it in correctly. Make sure you're relaxed, it hurts alot less! Don't worry about the blood.. if you're on your period while you put it in, that should be fine. It hurt me the first time I put a tampon in, so it's not just you. It takes some getting used to.

if it hurts when it is in its because you didnt put it in far enough. The brown stuff was blood, not poop. And I am sure it was the right hole cuz that would have REALLY hurt!

Just period blood. Lay on the floor and watch with a mirror next time and you won't have to ask again. It may hurt if you are dry or not accustomed to having anything inserted there. Try smooth plastic applicators and lubrication. (KY etc)

first of all, will MALES STOP ANSWERING THESE QUESTIONS! I mean, jeesh....let us women handle this kind of stuff...(and male docs, you're allowed) I'm sick of men who don't know **** being all cocky and trying to answer these questions to be smart asses. Sorry, i just needed to say this for once...
don't worry hun..when i tried to use tampons for the first time i tried to put it up the wrong hole, too...i mean, it's confusing at first. you just have to learn your anatomy.
you will know when it goes up the right place. it took me a while to get the hang of it, but once you do, it's easy as pie.
good luck.

You cannot fit a tampon in the hole that your urine comes out of. It is impossible.
Try again and make sure that you are inserting the tampon all the way inside of your vagina and that you are using the smallest tampon you can buy...they make special tampons for teens.

you probably had it in the right hole. if you are not bleeding very heavy it could hurt. if you are using the wrong size for you it will hurt, some people need certain brands. they work differently. Tampax expands longways and for me they start coming out and that's when they hurt. Playtex expands around they don't hurt as bad in my opinion. you might need to try different ones to see which one works for you best. talk to your mom to see what she recommends, try to buy trill size until you know what you like.
good luck
