I was just outside and while I was sitting on my porch three bats came out of no where and swooped down over my head. Since then, (about 30 minutes ago) they are flying like maniacs around my house and they won't go away. Two are chasing each other. I think they might be mating?? I have an attic and i am afraid that i might have bats. suggestions? What do you do to get rid of them, and are they bad for my house? Can they get inside? If they are outside they don't usually bother me too bad, but when they swoop down in front of my face about once every 10 seconds, it starts to creep me out. What about Rabies? Will they bite me? please help!!

Bats are beneficial in eating a lot of pests. But if you get a large colony in your attic, pooping all over, it could be a nuisance to you. If you want to know whether they are in the attic, look in the daytime and see if they are sleeping there, hanging from the ceiling.
If you want to get them out, don't do it when they have babies but wait until they are grown. (I don't know whether they have babies or not where you are.) You need to find out where they are getting in. Once you think you have this figured out, go into the attic at night when they are gone. Shine lights around and make noise to make sure they have all left. Then cover all the entrances with metal screen or whatever you think best.
Then go up the next day to see whether you have been successful, or whether they got in by an opening you didn't notice.
You can also hire a pest control company to do this for you.
I wish I had some bats at my house.

Bats will not (in general) bite humans. They don't cause any structural damage, and they eat all the insects around your house (especially the ones you don't like.... such as wasps and hornets)... There are many people that intentionally lure bats into living at their house for that very reason.
