There is not enough involvement from US citizens to make a difference. Most Americans are so caught up in their own problems, they could really care less who is in office. Until Americans put aside there political background and take a stand for what is right for this country, nothing will ever get accomplished.

This country hasn't been normal for a long time. Ever since Pres. Wilson established the Fed Reserve we as a people have been sold out. Neither the Dems., nor the Reps. look out for our best interests. While absolutely none of the Dems. are worth spit, there are a few Rep people that are actually statesmen and not just money grubbing politicians. One of which is Tom Tencredo. Otherwise you would have to look at the Constitutionalist Party for anyone with our best interest at heart. I sure as heck don't trust Hitlery Rotten Clinton, Obama, Pelosi, Dean, Durbin, Leahy, Kennedy and so on and so on. If you think any of these Dems. are good for the country, then you are either uninformed, or as they are, a socialist/ communist, which isn't what is good for this country.

I don't know if we'll ever "return to normal." Bush and all of the stubborn Republicans in this country have pretty much flipped everything we once had upside down.
This country is in limbo and it's going to be like that until the Democrats (including the ones elected last year) put a stop to it. So far it seems like they're afraid to do that (except for Gravel and Kucinich whom really speak their minds.)
I don't understand how or why so much corruption is allowed to go on. Everyone in the White House right now has no reason to be there because every one of them has at least one illegal thing against them.
Vote Democratic in 2008.

First of all, there is no way to define what "normal" is. Second, no one credible is predicting a "major depression ready to hit." Lastly, if you're as dependent on the government and as your question makes you sound, you're probably in trouble either way.

Hadn't thought of it yet, but you're right that finding our way back to "normal" is going to take more than simply changing presidents - and it will be all the harder if the Republicans somehow retain control of the White House.
