the term “multitasking” has only recently been coined. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary the word has been in use since around 1966. There is speculation that the computer age has popularized the word. Another theory as to why this word has become so widely used is the ever-increasing amount of mothers and fathers who take care of the children while doing laundry, cooking dinner, and helping with homework.

Used to mean very busy. Have to update words now and then to make them sound more important than they really are. Muti-tasking is a fine example. Makes the multi-tasker sound kind super human.

When you get down to cases, it just really means that you can handle of lot of stuff at one time and are busier than shiite. Sounds pretty much like modern man, dont it?

Multi-tasking is used a lot in business and in interviews and asked on applications. They want someone who can do multiple things at one time and do them all well.
