I want to support the guy, but I really don't want to hear all the nitty gritty details all the time.

This is funny, I wouldn't thik a guy would give all the details of "TCC".
Obviously the guy needs someone to talk to.
Say "I wish you and your wife the best of luck, but I find the details too intimate. If your wife wanted me to know her that well, she would've married me".
Actually, I bet his wife would be pretty mortified if she knew he was telling as her biznez. Sheesh.

Be honest with with him, he may be upset and feel hurt but he will respect u for it, tell him u want to be there for him but u dont want hear all the details as this is personal to him and his partner. He may not realise just how much he is telling u as he is so caught up in trying to have a baby. just be there for him but if he starts telling u the nitty gritty stuff just say hold on there, u dont need to tell me this, and just see how u get on , good luck and just try and be there for ur mate

I would basically just explain to him that you are happy to hear that he's trying to conceive but let him know that all of the details are not necessary. You guys are best friends so he should understand that and respect your wishes. I know it gets kinda hard sometimes to express your true thoughts but in a case like this, you really need to just tell him. I'm sure his feelings won't be hurt. This will probably be something you guys laugh about for years to come. If this doesn't work do what I do when my parents kiss or hint about sex.....DUDE, DON'T MAKE ME THROW UP! Good luck. Lol!

Hi friend...please stop telling me all the nitty gritty details of you trying to conceive. I'm your friend, not your doctor.

He just need someone to listen to him. Trying to have an addition to the family is a big step and decision. If you cannot stand his details, ask him to get on Yahoo!Answers and plenty of ready folks are here to listen!

Just put up with it for the time being. It's likely you are one of few people he is comfortable talking about it with.
Of course, even so, you can call a TMI - too much information-when need be- he should be cool with that .

If you don't have the courage to tell him out right, why don't you just change the subject each time he starts to tell you? Maybe he will get the hint after a while.

Just tell him the truth, let him know you are happy for him but it is just too much information for you! I am sure he will understand. Some guys like to share their sex stories with each other, you are just one of the ones who don't care about other people's sex lives.
