I have heard it said by those who work in a crematorium, that when a body is cremated, there are small "grease" fires from the fat and tissues being burned, melted, "cooked" if you will. It stinks and causes a huge mess, so how could a body just turn to ashes like the claims make? I've seen documentaries on this subject, fascinating, but not believable. Is it possible? Am I wrong to doubt the possibility?

You are not wrong to doubt. Spontaneous human combustion is just plain baloney.
Let those who believe bring proof that it can be possible.

Cremation will reduce a body to ashes (except for a few bone and teeth fragments). The phenomenon of "fat fires" is very common - but if you burn oil or fat in a frying pan long enough it turns to ashes.
Spontaneous combustion has people that say its possible (and can even cite examples) but scientists claim that its not possible. A body can burn but it needs a catalyst - something to get the fire started - and then the fat in the body can keep it going (like candle wax or an oil lamp).

It's not real. Every case was someone either falling into a fireplace or passing out while smoking. Your skin has a layer of fat on top, and your clothing acts like a wick - you become a giant candle. It doesn't make a huge mess - it's hot, but localized. They've shown this using a pig.

There's nothing spontaneous about it - just accidents.

My understanding is that the temperature in a crematorium is extremely high so that there are no complications ...

From my position , it doesn't really matter what goes on in the process as long as the result is satisfactory. After all , it's only the body that is being disposed of , not the spirit !

I have read stories about spontaneous combustion, and I think the explanations are far fetched to say the least!
One strange fact is a researcher into spontaneous combustion, ended up himself burned to a crisp!
Conspiracy?
Aliens?
Magic?
Witchcraft?
I doubt we will ever know!

You need to go to the bookstore and browse that section, with all the ... metaphysics?

I don't remember details, but I studied it in depth and is totally possible, or it wouldn't be on your mind today.

They just spontaneously combust, believe it.

Scientifically, it's not possible. Now if you decide to believe it anyway, then you just joined all of those who believe in things like witchcraft, ghosts and all the other supernatural phenomenons.

There has never been a proven case of SHC. Most so called cases have involved the elderly or drunks, both of which were most likely smoking.
