Roundup is a good vegetation and grass killer if you want to plant or grow something again in that area in two weeks. Roundup, when it touches the plant will kill the root. In ten days to two weeks you can plant where the grass or weed was.in Weeds will grow in that spot again if left unattended. If it is in an area that you want the vegetation to be killed all year get total vegetation killer. It will kill everything you spray it on and nothing will grow in that area for the entire year.

To eliminate everything "seriously" and keep it down for a year use Barren.
Its active ingredient is Bromacil which is a total weed killer.
This will kill everything you spray and when active in the soil will stop re-growth for up to a year.
Barren also contains an ester of 24D. This will give you the initial knockdown power.
If you want to plant soon after killing the weeds and grass do not use Barren, Instead use glyphosate.

Go to a sod farm and ask if you can buy a pint of Killex off of them but only use a table spoon to a quart of water. Any more killex it can migrate and kill in areas you don't want it to. Everything will die for about 5 years.

Round Up, this one: http://www.amazon.com/Roundup-5100720-Killer-Concentrate-35-2-Ounce/dp/B0008309SW/ref=sr_1_3?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&tag=amzn204-20&qid=1407570261
This stuff works really well. It doesn't just kill the top like many of the cheap ones do, it kills to the root. Good stuff.

You can try salt rock salt works best but you will make soil bad for future planting. Try mixing a cup of bleach and a cup of white vineager with 2 tbl of dish soap. mix in garden sprayer. It works.
Otherwise use Roundup1

Round up. I use it instead of a weed eater around my fence. Get a pressure sprayer so you can direct it exactly where you want it. WORKS FAST!!!!

Round-up is definitely good stuff. They make a special one called "total vegetation killer" That's the real good stuff. If you use it, don't plan on planting anything there for a while.
