How do you reconcile the xth version of the afterlife with different, conflicting versions of other religions? I suppose you believe your religion is the only real, True Religion. Sure. Just like all the others do too.

Fact: the human race has been around for hundreds of thousands of years.

Fact: the concepts of an afterlife, of gods, spirits, etc. have only been around for a few millenia.

Fact: these concepts were invented and promulgated by ignorant barbarians as an attempt to explain the world around them, before there was a such thing as science or epistemology.

Fact: the xth religion is only a couple millenia old, one of many religions that came before it and have come since.

Fact: most of the books of the bible were written by people who were never there, as second- or third-hand accounts decades or even centuries after the events they claim to tell about.

Fact: the books of the bible have been heavily edited over the centuries, with passages or even whole books being re-written or omitted to fit the theological and political climates of the time.

Fact: the books of the bible have also been subject to extensive errors, misinterpretations, and differences of opinion in interpretation as they are translated from one language to another and from that to yet another language.

Knowing all this, how can yours or ANY religion be viewed as anything BUT the invention of men? I know this may not be what you want to hear, and I doubt I'll do much harm to your faith; faith is remarkably impervious to reason.

Many people believe that this is true.
Many people believe that this is not true.
I read a book where they interviewed people who were legally dead, and then came back alive again.
They all said that they went to a different place after death.
Sure, we can say that is was the brain acting crazy during the process of dying. But these people were brain dead. You cannot get any more dead than that. Then they woke up. One guy woke up 30 minutes later, in the morgue. A physician wrote the book. He was especially amazed by small children who gave the same description, including children with NO religious background.

Hmmm....

The Bible teaches that while dead a person is not any longer -- has ceased to exist.

It also teaches that God keeps a record of everybody's life. Those that are 'worthy (?)' not wicked - will on judgment day be given a resurrection into the earthly Paradise under God's kingdom rule.
The ones that were believers may get a resurrection to the 'resurrection of life' while those ignorant of God throughout times (not wicked) the unrighteous will get at 'resurrection of judgment' thus they must after their resurrection prove themselves.
There is also a special, first resurrection, for the Saints but that is in spirit bodies to a heavenly existence.

Those that do not believe the Good News being preached now shall be destroyed once Armageddon begins.

Nope, not by a long shot. The death of the physical body is simply a transformation to another type of life. It is birth into the non-physical form.

I do not think humankind will ever know what happens after death. I'm sure as technology progresses someone will try something but I don't think we will be able too. Even now we can figure what is going on in someone else's head WHEN THEIR ALIVE. So I dunno what happens when you die. I hope a good many things but I'll just see for myself and so will you.

Your body gets broken down and re-distributed throughout the universe.

I believe that, that's it, it's over, no more thought's no more feelings, it all comes to an end.
but in some ways that's a good thing, like going to sleep after a long day.

"The evil that men do lives on long after death. The good is oft interred with the bones".

Depending on what you believe. I believe in reincarnation, after all we are energy, you can't kill energy, the body may die but the energy (soul) goes on.
