personally i just love fall out boy...
Patrick Stump is just about the best singer with out ever taking singing lessons or anything.

my favorite has to be fall out boy!!! i mean come on what could be better than the best music that makes you want to get up and dance your little heart out with lyrics that make you think about what they mean. Most of the people in the band are hot too! which only makes it better!!

definatly linkin park
they've been around for a while and are sort of in the mainstream but still keep it real
they have over 100 songs
they do all their stuff on their own
write their own lyrics
have meaningful lyrics
they invented a new genre and mastered it
they incorrperate lots of different genres in theirs
chester bennignton [lead singer] has an outstanding voice that everytime i hear i start to cry
they help charities
they have really cool side projects [snow white tan and fort minor]
they base their lyrics on real things not make beleive pointless stuff
they have tonnes of instruments to make the sound perfect
and finally
even though there are many more reasons
they don't only focus on music
but on artwork

My favorite band in the whole world is Dashboard Confessional. I like them mostly because of there lead singer. He writes the best lyrics all about love and infidelity and dates and so many others things and then he puts in some music and it all sounds perfect. They are amazing... there best song is called Stolen, or Hands Down.

Led Zeppelin/ Robert Plant
This band is the yardstick for all heavy rock/metal bands to measure by. They are still "up there" as far as music sales over thirty years on. Robert Plant's voice is so unique I can't find a true comparison.

James Brown. His energetic moves, his cat-like screeches and magnificent band always had a funky good time on stage and made millions dance. I saw him in July '06 before he passed and I have never seen a show like his.
Close second live act would be Rare Earth.
As for lyrics and pure song writing, I like Billy Joel and Elton John as well as U2. All three have done great songs.

my favorite band would have to be Green Day. I was aware of them when their songs like 'Good Riddance' and 'When I Come Around' came out, but I never really payed much attention to them. Then their album American Idiot came out, and I fell in love. From then on I was listening to their earlier stuff, and I actually like their earlier music better. <3
