He's giving me a small sum, about $10,000, to spend, but it's with his own money so I want to buy a gift where it's the thought that counts, because otherwise he could just buy it himself.

You are totally full of it. First of all, if you are going through a divorce as your profile indicates why the h*ll would you buy a birthday gift for your "husband" (in quotations since you're "married").
My guess? You're really some punk a$$ 15 year old from a broken home with nothing better to do with your time. Why don't you try studying?

What I did for my boyfriend was make "Pleasure Gift Certificates" You can use your imagination, some other ones were back scratch, body massage etc. Some dirty ones were giving bj while he was driving, watching porn, stuff that guys love but can never get enough of. He loved it to say the least. I bought the certificates at Office Depot and downloaded templates for certificates off of microsoft. Their fun and free!

On my wedding day my wife gave me an original boxed Optimus Prime Transformer (my favourite toy from when I was a kid) Completely stunned me! Showed how much she payed attention to all the things I had said over the years - confirming that she was the one for me!
