I have hardwood floors too - my dog slides also. She has learned pretty much how to "hold on." But keeping the nails short helps, and also some rugs. OR! You could get him some of those doggie shoes that they have at the pet store. That would also keep your floors scratch free!

I have hard wood floors throughout my house and I have rubber backing area rugs. I have 3 80+ pound dogs, so watching them chase each other all over the house is quite humorous at times, but the area rugs do help quite a bit. I still have carpet on my steps as I do not want the dogs to slip and fall when they run up and down them just as a safety precaution.

Why spoil the fun? I wish I could do the same but I'll probably break something. I'd trade lives with that dog right now just to slide across a floor.

yeah i'd be careful because they can really scratch up the floor. i know this sounds monotonous but a rug might be the only answer. you can find these rubber pads that look like big grids at target for real cheap and they go under the rug and give really good traction. good luck haha

you'll have to get some rugs with non-slip rubber backing so he can manage to get around the house and not get hurt. you'll also want to keep things like socks picked up off the floor so he doesn't slip

Try cutting his nails. My dog has a better grip when his nails are short.
