I still cry every time I see the episode where James Sr died.
I think my favorite episode was when Michael brought home the old man who wanted to die with the family.. I mean it was sad but they showed him a Good time and made him happy..
When JJ got his art kit.. was a good time!
and when Thelma first got engaged..
Those were some happy episodes..
I think though the point of the show was you can be poor and be happy.. you can still have good times even when your living in the ghetto..
been there done that myself and never let it get me down either..
Peace

The "Good Times" part of the show meant the irony of living in some broke down projectin the ghetto of Chicago, living on life's edge day by day and stll keeping smiles on your faces.

Great Question! I think they had such rough times that when they were able to come together as a family even if only to SEMI-resolve a problem, they considered it a "Good Time!"

I still watch "Good Times" on TVLand. I think every episode is my favorite one. It was, and still is, a very touching show.
