The Chinese myth of one of the eight immortals. Zhang-Guolao, actually.

The story goes that when Zhang-Gualao died, he decided against the whole death thing and just picked himself back up and kept going. No elixir. No enlightenment.

What I want to know is why I can't do that too.

My mother was hispanic and she believed some old wives tale that as children if we were sleeping and we woke up and went outside on a cold night that our faces would somehow become permanently distorted. She would cover our faces before we were allowed to even walk to the car.

The whole, Bloody mary thing. If you say her name in the mirror in the dark with a fan on, and say 'bloody mary' 3 times, that she will appear in the mirror.

The whole mirror thing!
If you break a mirror, you'll have bad luck for seven years.

That's B.S., I've broken too many, cause I'm clumsy.
And I have the best luck.

My nana told me that if I ate apple seeds, they would grow in my belly and branches would stick out of my ears and nose and kids would tease me.

I was terrified of eating apples for many many years.
