Can someone tell me about the crusaders? Like, were they just for example: a religous farmer turned crusader? I am doing a renaissance thing on crusaders so any info would help?

The Crusaders consisted of all kinds of people: kings and emperors, farm boys and laborers, archbishops and priests, knights and footsoldiers, landowners, pilgrims, peasants - not just Knights Templar, or Hospitallers.

There is a book you can get in cheap paperback that has two crusaders' memoirs. I think it's called "Memoirs of the Crusades." The two crusaders are William Villehardouin, who went on the fourth crusade, took part in the conquest of Constantinople and foundation of the Latin Empire of Romania, and became Prince of Achaia in the Greek penninsula afterwards. The second is named Joinville, who went on, I think, the eighth crusade, which tried to reach the Holy Land by fighting their way from Egypt.

Some were nobles that had religious reasons. Some were soldiers that did what they were told. Some were misguided children.
