My niece is having an early evening outdoor wedding in Southern California in late June. I need suggestions for where to take my my 75 year old mom dress shopping. (I mostly shop on line for my clothes)
I don't think she wants lacy so no "mother of the bride type dresses", something classy that she can wear again. and not too expensive.

The bridesmaids are wearing yellow/green/pink.

spaghetti strap tank top for a grandmother of the bride? good gracious.

is it possible to shop for her clothes online aswell? since she doesn't travel well and probably has some idea of what style looks nice, or you do in any case. perhaps you could take a computer to her house or bring her to yours for a relaxing lunch and pull up some web sites like macy's or jcpennies or whatever. this would give you a great idea of what selection is available at each before you treck out in the heat. it might be a good idea to already have scoured the internet so it's less frustrating to show her the clothes:)

as for some suggestions, i think red is a great color for family - it is striking and colorful (unlike black and grey) but also comes in a variety of shades so it can flatter any complection. purple works well for grandmothers, as does blues. i would look for classic and simple - you want grandma to be timeless, not trendy, and you want pieces she will wear again. perhaps a great, simple, solid colored dress paired with a decorative shawl. the dress would be a great basic that could be paired with a jacket for formal occasions, etc. also, the shawl would make it more fun and colorful, without adding a lot of cost.

beforehand you do something you want to communicate to the bride about what #a million her mom is wearing (its custom that the MOB chooses her gown first and then you go with a spread gown it really is alongside the same lines. which skill if she chooses a tea length then so do you, floor length, tournament etc. and so that you dont go with a clashing or the same shade) and #2 what she might want to opt to confirm you in. also, it really is your sons wedding ceremony, you're an venerated targeted visitor, you ought to get a sparkling gown, not something you've on your closet, in case you could discover the money for one. you'd be in dissimilar images, so that you want to truly be tender on your gown and under no circumstances sense a lot princess-like as you do quite in it. I trust above that you're slightly to previous to be feeling like a princess, the princess should be the bride, you had you princess day once you've been married. examine with the bride first and robust success!

Talbots sells classic clothes and are in most malls as well as a mail order business. I think a nice skirt, top and either a blazer or co-ordinating sweater. Later she can mix and match all the pieces as she wants. I think a Grandmother can easily wear a nice pair of pants to a wedding if that is more functional.

ok well first of all dont where white its the brides day not yours (sorry) Since the bridesmaids dresses are yellow green and pink you could consider that color black always always works since it is in late june i would get like a tank-top spagetty strap dress with like a jacket thing over it or like a shawl so if its cold you wear the jacket hot you take it off easy enought right, since you want something cheap J.C pennies has really cute grandmother of the bride dresses good luck!
