I had the same problem as you, my doctor had to put me on sleeping pills, but I was so tired after words, a friend of my introduced me to MONA VIE I started taking it about 2 months ago and it has done wonders for my energy and for my sleep now I dont need to take pills or have a all messed up sleep pattern. Check out the website it is all natural and good for your overall health. It will also cut your sugar cravings (if you have any) which inturn cause you to feel double tired when you get off the sugar high. I just love this product, I am now all into it and have my family and friends on it, they all love it

Don’t watch TV or even so much as look at a computer screen atleast 30 minutes before you lie down. The light from both a television as well as a computer monitor mimic the same intensity of light as sunlight. This fools your body and brain into thinking it’s nowhere near time for sleep.
Drink milk. Milk has an amino acid in it called Tryptophan that increase the levels of serotonin and/or melatonin in the brain which slow down brain activity. It’s science folks.
Go to bed when you are tired. Different strokes for different folks here. Just because your wife goes to bed at 9PM doesn’t mean you are ready. You might only require seven and half hours of sleep while she might require ten. If you aren’t tired, do something low-key until you are, like read a book, play solitaire (NOT on your computer), or play with some legos.
Reserve the bed for bed things (ie sleep and sex). I for one don’t strictly follow this rule as I’ll read some before I go to sleep, but for some people this is a must.
Meditate. No, don’t cross your legs and hum, but focus on relaxing…if that makes sense. Take deep, long breaths. Tense each muscle one at a time from head to toe. Focusing on doing this takes your mind off of other things and you’ll be in lala land in no time.
Excercise during the day. I emphasize during the day. Excercising at night just gets everything going instead of shutting down for sleep. But excercising during the day tires the muscles out and makes for a solid nights sleep.

I know exactly how you feel, I have trouble sleeping at night also, I usually take a benadryl like a half hour before I go to bed, it relaxes me.

Many people suffer this problem at one varied point or another in their life, some even more than others such as possibly your case, but I know how to treat it, naturally. For a very economical price you can get natural melatonin from your local Wal-Mart in the vitamin section which helps your body to produce more natural Serotonin at bed time to enhance sleep. There are zero side effects, other than a good nights sleep, and it is non-habit forming. It is just a great vitamin supplement. Search the key word "Melatonin" on your Yahoo search engine to confirm what I'm telling you. It naturally provides me a great nights sleep every night after trying for years to sleep at night before I found this dietary supplement. I now wake refreshed and full of energy as I am only promoting my body's own ability to sleep. The best brand comes in a purple bottle from the company "Natrol" and is labeled Melatonin 5mg (1 tablet at night). Again, it is non-narcotic as it is a natural supplement and is found in the vitamin and health section at your local Wal-Mart. It's the best kept secret for sleep I've ever experienced for a great nights sleep every night. By helping the body to produce more Serotonin, which is your body's "sleep regulator " hormone, the Melatonin lowers stress, eases your mind, and thus promotes restful sleep. You may have a deficit of serotonin to begin with and would benefit greatly from this supplement.

Nap for 20 minutes only!
Try reading for at least an hour to get your mind off of things. But if you're in bed for more than 30 minutes and you can't fall asleep, just get up. Take a walk or occupy yourself with something. If you don't fall asleep in 30, churning things over and over is not going to stop...

try some meditation before you try to go to bed at night. Light some candles, play some soothing massage music and just take some deep breathes and focus on a place you find comforting and relaxing. That is what I did when I had trouble sleeping. You can go to your local walmart and find a cd that plays sleep relaxation music. Picture yourself on a cool breezy beach lying in a hamick hearing nothing but the waves crashing with the relaxtion music in the background. It really works. It will take more than one night to try it before it will really work. Plus it also helps put your mind at ease and clears it and you will feel better all the way around. Good luck!

I used to have the same problem. Do you drink a lot of caffeine? That will definitely make you crash in the early afternoon. If you do, try to cut back on the caffeine, or better yet give it up altogether. You can also try to take the supplement Melatonin (a pill available in the vitamin section of any store.) Taking 3mg of melatonin 20 minutes before bed will help your brain to relax and make it easier to sleep. Works for me, anyway.

Instead of going home at 4 and crashing, do something with that time. Go walk through the park or to a store and browse. Stay active until evening and then go to bed a decent hour. Breaking your routine may set you back on track.

Eat breakfast in the morning..that will keep you awake all day. And around 4:oo, do something to keep you going...like maybe watch a funny movie, or go exercise. That way when you are done with the homework and then a bath...you will be pooped out! lol
