I am only 13 and i just started in late June last summer.I bleed heavily and my PMS is BAD. I get really bad mood swings and my cramps are horrible. Cancer of the Uteris and cervix is hereditary in our family and i am just freaking out.My period was last week and im finishing up today(or should be) I tried tampons for the first time and it hurt is this normal?? I understand why i need to get this done. My periods are wayy to long they average 6 days and once i bled very lightly but for almost 2 weeks!! I just need tips like help relaxing and all that.

Maybe you could tell your mom there are other things to try to improve your cycles besides going to the doctor and getting pills.

Nutrition, supplements/vitamins and lifestyle changes can work wonders for women with heavy bleeding and/or long periods. There is a fabulous book called "Fertility, Cycles and Nutrition" by Marilyn Shannon. It's helped me a lot.

If you are having long periods and lots of bleeding that means something is off as far as your cycles go. The trick is to try to find out what that something is.

Unfortunately MOST doctors simply treat the symptoms with birth control pills and you want to avoid that if at all possible b/c pills have other physical side effects and actually increase your risk for breast cancer.

Best of luck. By the way...I hate pap smears, too, but I've only gotten them when I had to - when I was pregnant!

See if she will let you try other solutions before going to the doc.

This must be very nerve wracking for you. A pap test is not bad. I have had several and it does not hurt at all. It only takes a moment, then it's done. Just relax and the exam will be over. Everyone who goes the first time feels the way you do. I was nervous my first time too.
You really need to get this done because of your history and you're having trouble with your periods.
I have always had trouble with mine too.

Just relax at your exam, especially when the doctor puts the speculum in. It will be a bit uncomfortable at first, but after the pap test is done, the doctor will remove it. Keep in mind the doctor has done this many times and thinks nothing of it.

Six days for a period is normal. That's how long I go. Normal is between 3 and 8 days.
Tampons shouldn't hurt when you use them, but they can be difficult to use for teenagers at first.

Good luck with your first exam. Just remember other girls have gone through the same thing. :)

relax sweetie its OK. first of all u don't get stitched up their. all the doctor do is look inside to check Ur cervix to see if its OK and see their anything wrong and why Ur bleeding so much. it doesn't hurt its just uncomfortable. and remember when their doing it just relax the more u tense up the more its going to feel uncomfortable and it might even hurt. and when ur at the Doctor tell the doctor that u want the shot for hpv called gardisil so u will be prevented from cervical cancer and that std. and its OK if a tampon hurts its probably just inn wrong take it out throw it away and get a new one maybe a smaller size and relax and put it In. but if u ask me i think u should stick with pads because Ur kinda young sweetie. unless Ur having sex.

no longer a McCain supporter because of the fact of his song checklist. After shelling out all of the "good stuff" he did, to the applaud of his followers he forgot to point some complicated info. regrettably maximum of them do no longer opt to look at all of the negatives which you element out. How can we probably believe he won't proceed to carry on with Bush's regulations whilst he has been a proponent of them ninety% of the time. permit's settle for it, McCain is all communicate and could say something to fulfill his targets.
