no because they were warned ahead of time of what could happen to them if they don't accept His free give of salvation.

It doesn't work like that. We create our eternity with our beliefs. We were given a free will in this life. It is a choice to pick good or evil. Those who choose evil have lives that are empty and incomplete. Our eternity is affected by what we choose while we are alive. So if you choose to live in a negative light all your life, chances are, your eternity will not be much different.
Being you are a spirit who can enter the other side at any given moment, it is best to connect to the higher energy while you have the chance here and stay connected always. This will ensure you will be on the right path and have a glorious afterlife.
Another way to look at it. God gave us instructions on how to get from point A to point B. If you don't want to follow the instructions, don't get mad at God. He gave us instructions so we can get there. Again, it's your choice.
PS:
I am reading the responses and I am wondering. Why do so many people here get angry that there is a place called hell??? It's a place where the most horrible people go. Not your loving neighbor who couldn't read the Bible because she couldn't read. There is nothing wrong about separating the vermin from the flock. People like Hitler are a disease and you certainly don't want them around your "heaven". So God had to put them somewhere. If you feel sorry for Hitler then you don't care about the millions of people he heartlessly tortured to death. God have mercy!

Yes, it is unethical. But thank God, our God IS ethical.
The idea of salvations is not God/Jesus saving you from himself. God is saving us from a corrupted earth tainted by the devil (you know, the whole Adam and Eve story). In the future portrayed in Revelations, God takes all those he has saved out of this world, purges the earth by fire, then sends us all back to a refined earth where the city of New Jerusalem is set.
If you don't accept his salvation, then you are a part of the corrupted world system and are vulnerable to all that is entailed in that purging process. Don't blame God for that when he has given you the free will to chose hellfire over an eternity with him.
God does not want anyone to suffer in hell, but even humans know better than to whole-heartedly expect 100% participation or agreement on anything, even a fundamentally simple deal such as eternal live vs. eternal hell.

No. God is inherently just, holy (pure), and righteous. He is not human (flawed with a sinful nature).... therefore His judgments are perfect as He is perfect. He also desires all to be saved and come to a knowledge of the Truth so He offers the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. However, many reject this free gift and chose to die in their sins, therefore an eternity in hell is there choice, not God's.

When you write a program, then you make the rules. It is really simple. If you were God then you could design whatever you thought was best. Personally, I chose to accept His program. I like His plan and ever glad that I got to make a choice. You see if I were God, I would have hit the flusher a long time ago. Ant farms would have been way easier.

A delusion of a god tormenting someone is the least of my concerns.
I always giggle when intelligent people claim that a god exists. What a waste of an education.

No. It is unethical for a person to know how to escape torment for all eternity and expect to be rescued after a life of neglect.

It's possible that we're already in eternity.
Birth and death could be nothing more than
the "front" and "back" ends of a quantum
leap.
One thing is for sure. Any real space travel
will require some sort of quantum mechanics
to strip time and space from mass. And, this
new technology will drastically change how
we see God, our universe and ourselves.

goes to show you how much bs christianity spews from their teachings.
that alone makes me believe that christianity is all a big bunch of BS
not everyone has the opportunity to know of this one religion, not everyone decides to follow it. If you are a good person that is all that needs to be.
what a pompus God he would have to be, that's like cutting off a childs arm b/c they reached in the cookie jar.
any christian that believes this is a sorry excuse for a person, they have no mind, and if they do it is brainwashed beyond retrieval.

Of course, it is unethical, immoral, unjust and sadistic. How can we be so illogical to suggest that God would sin against Man?
And yes, I do believe in God.
