I am nearly 20 weeks pregnant now, and I hear a lot of women saying they cant even button their pants at 8 and 9 weeks along. I am still wearing my jeans and shirts from my pre pregnancy days without a problem. I walk around and I guess I look like I just ate but Its not uncomfortable to button my pants, and I havent gained any weight yet. Ive had an u/s just last week, and I saw my healthy baby girl, weighing 8oz. is this normal, or should I be having a tough time fitting into my clothes by now?

I should add, im 5'5 and I wear a size 8. My Dr. told me I have an anterior placenta, so the baby is toward the back. I guess that could be why? can anyone relate?

I wouldn't worry about it. I had a healthy baby girl on January 7th and really didn't show until the last couple of months. As long as the baby is healthy and your OBGYN isn't concerned, don't stress about it. I was even lucky enough to be back in my pre-pregnancy clothes when I came home from the hospital two days after my daughter was born. Some women are just lucky like that, although I kind of felt at 4-5 months like I just looked fat and wanted a shirt that said "I'm not fat, I'm pregnant". My mother was the same when she had me, she even lost extra weight post pregnancy and was thinner than she had been before she got pregnant (and she was quite thin then!). Every pregnancy is different. As long as you're eating healthy, getting plenty of rest and taking care of yourself, you're doing everything you can. You make just find at 5 months you "pop" and overnight suddenly look pregnant (I had a friend who did that).

Don't worry!! It is completely normal to gain weight in pregnancy. The majority of the weight you have gained is probably all in your uterus. What with the baby, the placenta, the amniotic fluid etc etc. I heard that the average woman loses 2kg (i think thats about 5 pounds) in childbirth alone. If you find that after you deliver the baby and you still feel like you could lose some weight, you could always get one of those prams that are designed for sport and take the baby and you out for brisk walks every day. The baby would really enjoy that. Has your doctor expressed any concern at your weight gain? If not im sure everything is just fine. Good luck, and in a weeks time your weight will be the most insignificant thing because you will have a little angel in your arms.

If you are 20 weeks pregnant, you should have gained about 10 pounds already. Has your waistline 'disappeared' yet? It should be several inches bigger.
You should be eating 300 extra healthy calories a day for optimal fetal growth, and taking prenatal vitamins.
Are you eating:
1] 3 lean proteins a day
2] 3 lean dairy
3] 4 whole grain carbs
4] 3 veggies
5] 2 fruits
Most people do not fit into their ''non- pregnant" clothes by this point. With my first, I was about 18 weeks before I quit wearing unbuttoned pants and went to the maternity store.

As long as baby is doing fine then I wouldn't worry. Woman gain the majority of pregnancy weight during the second half of pregnancy. Mostly b/c this is the time when baby puts on their weight too. Also most woman are past the morning sickness stage and tolerate foods better. I wish I fit in my pants still~lol. I am 21 weeks and put on 10 pounds.

It is normanl because i am 5'9 and between 230-250 lbs. and on my second child and i'm wearing my clothes from when I was not even thinking about having a child but when I was pregnant with my little girl I showed in my 8th month of pregnancy but now i'm pregnant with my son and he's only 1lb. and 11 oz. and i'm showing bad. I have to rubber band my pre-preg pants together, wear loose fitting gaunchos and capris and sandals and i'm only 25 weeks and 3 days exactly.

You shouldn't worry. At 32 weeks I've only gained 2 lbs and I'm still wearing my pre pregnancy pants and fastening them with a rubber band.

I think I was barely 20 weeks when I started wearing maternity clothes. Is this your first child? They say with your first you start to show later than with your second and third, etc. I think that's pretty normal. Also, every pregancy is different and everyone carries the pregnany differently. I wouldn't be too concerned. Anyways, everytime you go to the doc, he will usually measure your uterus, right? If they thought your uterus was smaller than usual, I'm sure they would check it out more thoroughly.

you could be a 'back' carrier, meaning the baby is closer to youur spine than to your bladder, or maybe you just have good loose fitting clothes, and i mean this in no offense, but heavy women dont show very much if at all, so maybe thats it too, but your baby is just starting to fill out your uterus, trust me you will notice something soon!
