I have been told that NC is not a community property state and a creditor cannot lien or levy on joint property? Does anyone have experience with this. However, on lawguru.com I had a reponse to a question and he said that if you are sent a notice of right to exemptions and do not respond, then a sheriff can come take your personal property. Is this true? What is exempt in NC?

A creditor CAN get a lien on joint property in ANY state. In a community property state, ALL property is joint property.
