Here are my weirdest surprises when I was pregnant. Turns out they are all common!

1. Carpal tunnel
2. Bleeding gums
3. Excess saliva production (actually had to have a spit cup - yuk!)
4. Crazy dreams

I love pregnancy and have had a wonderful experience, but there are many things I never knew about before I got pregnant:
~Morning sickness happens at any time and makes you lose interest in foods you used to love. You may even start eating things you never thought you would.
~You start having a major change in discharge so, keep clean down there!
~ You may cry for the silliest things, get depressed for no reason, and then be just fine the next day.
~ You will miss sleeping on your tummy so very much if you are used to it.
~Pregnancy hormones can cause major migraines
~ You will have the strangest most interesting (and sometimes disturbing) dreams
~ Burping/ passing gas around your bf or husband is no longer such a big deal... just a part of everyday life
~Your priorities start changes whether you expect them to or not.
~Stock up on pillows. You will you very very grateful.
I know there are many other things I didn't expect until I have experienced it, but these are a few of the major ones. As much as you want to be completely prepared it is almost impossible. You can read books, but even they don't tell you everything since all pregnancies are different. Good luck and have fun with it.

Ok. You asked for it...Be prepared to have an audience whenever you enter the dr.'s office or the hospital. Get used to little privacy. During your first sonogram, you will have it done internally. Yes, they stick a long prob into your vagina to see how far along you are. that's how they get an exact date. You will become a pin cushion. They take alot of blood samples for glucose tests, etc. Let them. It is important you know as much about this baby as you can. Be ready for extra wetness down below where you may need a liner later in your pregnancy. Your baby will be awake when you are asleep which will cause you to wake. Babies in the later part of nine months get the hiccups where your whole belly shakes. If you have a scheduled c-section, you will be shaved down below. Do it before you get to the hospital. Labor is a long process. Babies aren't born in minutes. You could be dilated for days. You will pass a mucus plug which clogs your cervex. You may notice it or not. Be ready for lots of adventures. The pregnancy is the easy part!

It's different for everyone and for different pregnancies. I can tell you what took me by surprise.

1. The constant weird taste in my mouth and bleeding gums when brushing.

2. The "mommy brain" or forgetting. This had to be the worse for me!! I was really fed up the day I locked my keys in the car. I was never one for things like that so it irritated the crap out of me!

3. Not just the peeing but HOW MUCH you have to pee and how LITTLE fluid it takes to make you have to pee. Which of course keep you waking up at night.

4. The dreams, just crazy.

5. The cravings and aversions. Your kind of expect them because you always hear about them but to the extent that they happen, whoa. I was a devout vegetarian before I get pregnent. Then all it took a TGIF commercial for Jack Daniel's steak and I was calling my girlfriend! She laughed so badly at me and took pictures before she couldn't believe I was eating meat, let alone beef! lol I think it was because I was sick and just wanted to eat something ridiculous the first chance I got to keep some food in.

6. I'll wrap up here and say the extreme sense of calm that comes over you in the second and third trimesters. The worry just kind of vanishes and calmness takes over, maternal instinct kicks in and you can just sit back and watch it do what is has to; it's automatic.

GOOD LUCK

Thigs I never heard about, but happened to me:
-wierd, very vivid dreams
-hair...on my stomach..ew
- my upper chest area broke out
-my hair got wavier and changed texture a bit
-I lost my brain. The hormones ate it. I dont know what the cause, but I have turned into the biggest space case. (and this one's not just me, I heard other pregnant moms say the same thing..thank goodness!)
-my nose is congested all the time
thats all I can think of for now, but like I said..the brain...mostly I have been having a great pregnancy, no sickness etc, But those things were definatly suprises to me. I'm only 18weeks along..so who knows what else is in store :)

Feet, ankles swelling
Tingling in arms or hands when you lie down or sleeping
More prone to yeast infections
Weird taste in your mouth for no reason

Well alot of them aren't too pleasant like:
Excess vaginal discharge, gas, bloating, retaining water, excess saliva, vivid & crazy dreams (alot of women have very vivid sex dreams), the power to turn from the sweetest person into a raging monster over nothing, really strange cravings, sore joints/muscles...
There's alot more but I can't think of them now, lol.

Oh sweetie - that is such a broad subject because everyone is different. Each of my four pregnancies were different. I suggest you go check out some books. Start with "What to expect when your expecting" that's a good start.

Some of the weirdest things that happened to me while pregnant were clumsiness, increased sense of smell, forgetfulness, and of course crying at the drop of a hat :)
