Only time will tell- and the Browns have what could turn out to be a good draft- but they sacrificed their draft next year to attempt to have a good draft this year-
I really like what the Cowboys did and what the Niners did- the Cowboys traded down and still got the same player that they were targeting with the 22nd pick much later in the round, plus by trading with the Browns they have assured themselves of 2 first round picks in the 2008 draft
The Niners did a great job in the first round- getting a stand-out linebacker and a cornerstone lineman- both Staley and Wills should have great careers.
The trouble with the Browns draft is that it takes about 3 years to see if a QB is going to make it or not, since they need time to learn the system and offense and adjust to the speed and read the NFL defenssive schemes.

The Browns' first three selections were very special and could alter the face of this struggling franchise. Wisconsin's Joe Thomas was the draft's best left offensive tackle and a very solid choice. They traded next year's first-round pick to Dallas in order to draft Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn, a player they had rated fourth overall on their draft board. Consequently, GM Phil Savage believes he got value by trading for Quinn, who was rated a lot lower by other NFL teams. Cleveland needs a quarterback and even though Quinn may have lost $15 million in bonus money by sliding to the 22nd overall spot, he wanted to be a Brown. Cornerback Eric Wright had character red flags, but most teams rated him right behind Darrelle Revis in this draft. Wright has started only 10 college games, but he has excellent closing speed and quickness. Savage spent big money on guard Eric Steinbach, so Quinn will have some protection.
Grade: A+

49ers. 2 excellent players that will likely start very early. Browns had a pretty bad draft. Drafting Thomas was the right thing to do, but giving up a very likely top 5-10 pick in next years draft for that piece of crap Brady Quinn was just plain stupid. There is a reason over 20 teams passed on him including the Browns @ #3.

Browns did very well but the clear winner haas to be the Patriots. They managed to garner 9 picks, got the premier safety they wanted (Brandon Merriweather) and parlayed other picks into already proven players. Moss for a 4th was brilliant....if he doesnt pan out honestly what have they lost? Plus they got an additional 1st rounder next year from S.F.
Like the top of the Browns draft with Quinn and Thomas and adding Eric Wright (provided he acts right) wer great moves but losing next years 1st will hurt.
Buffalo got good quality with Lynch, Posluszky and trent Edwards.
S.F. did great at the top of the draft getting Willis and Staley, they did a great job filling their two biggest needs.
Det. did nicely at the top of their draft getting the best player plus working in 2 nd rounders that all fill needs.
And Oakland (whoever gets the 1st pick usually gets a good grade) picked up a pretty good group as well.
Those are the teams that at least for the moment look like they helped themselves the most, once they all get on the field of course all that will change.

The Browns simply because of their two draft picks in the 1st round Brady Quinn will be better than J'marcus Russell simply because he like to move out of the pocket. Quarterbacks do need the ability to scramble but they should not have that as their first priority.

The Cowboys will look like the winner if the Browns have another bad season. They have the Browns #1 for 2008.

Browns did. Sucks for Quinn, but basically by that little maneuver, the Browns got two of their top 3 players on their board.

I thought the Browns did really well. Think we are getting really close to having a pretty good football team. The Pats did pretty good too. Picking up R. Moss for a fourth round pick. Wow.

49ers. Got an versitile and quick LB who will be an immediate impact. They got a stud OL in Joe Staley that they desperately need. Some experts had him as high as a top 10 prospect. Then they stole Darrell Jackson from their divsion rival making SF better and SEA worse.
