We can not say it is more. But now we have high sensing devices to record the seismic waves. Even the micro earthquakes are recorded perfectly. My close observation from past 5 years shows up to 6 scale 2 to 3 in a week above 6 to 7 once in a month above 8 once in a year happening. But the places affected once by heavy earthquakes are experiencing several smaller earthquakes for some more years due to resetting of tectonic plates. Even yest-er day there was some report of earthquakes I have noticed from Solomon Island that was recently affected by Tsunami. Please visit my slide show.

We hear about a lot more earthquakes because every single one is reported on by some news service. There are reporters scattered all over the globe reporting on everything from large migrations of ants to anything else anyone might be interested in.
Years ago this wasn't true.
I seriously doubt that the number of earthquakes has increased over the years.

Another little thing for Al Gore to blame on Global Warming.

Revulayshun is sort of way off on this one.

there are alot of earthquakes because the earth is going through a period of dynamic thrusting and uplifting along the moving plates fo the earth. This movement is caused by a period of active spreading at the ocean's center along what are called spreading ridges, deep cracks in the earths crust through which new molten lava is secreted moment by moment, creating new land on either side of the crack. This pushes outward and makes the coastal plates along the continents slide under (subduct) and pushes fresh magma up under the nearshore continental shelf. This causes grinding, vibration, new shelf cracking, and is evidenced as earth quakes that shake, rattle, and roll us around.

Its just more proof that the Bible is the Word of God.

Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mar 13:8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these [are] the beginnings of sorrows.
Luk 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
