I am, I think that baseball needs to get some new teams into the postseason. Its more fun to me to cheer for a team that remains competitive, but doesn't win all the time. Then your fans get spoiled and arrogant and its not fun to follow the team anymore. Yankee fans are like this right now and need to be humbled a little. I thought another first round playoff exit would help, but it hasn't at all. I'm a Royals fan (laugh if you want) and would love for them to have a chance at least once. The Brewers and Tigers have given me hope, but a poor showing by the Yankees would go along way to showing everyone that anyone can be beaten. It probably won't last and they will battle the Sox and the Central teams for a playoff spot like they do every year, but for now I love looking at the AL East standings...

The Yankees won't end up in last place, but I'm happy they are there now. The pitching won't hold up to win the division. But, I would love to have some of their position players. I really think the Sox will do it this year. If the Yankees don't compete with them, no one else will. Clemens should have stayed home to watch this on TV. The world series will consist of Boston and Milwaukee!!

The best thing that can happen to baseball is for the Yankees to not win. It shows that it doesnt matter how much money you spend, its what you do on the field and not with your cheque book. Its too bad that that Bud Selig or whatever his name is has his head so far up Steinbrenners hoop. If he didnt maybe he would have had the guts to institute a real salary cap. Just so you dont think its sour grapes I used to be a Yankee fan in the days before Steinbrenner came along. I would rather watch Steinbrenners horses than his baseball team.

I dunno. I'm not a Yankee fan but history shows that MLB thrives more and has higher attendence for all of the teams when the Yankees are in the top tier of the league. After the '94 strike, attendence has improved as the Yankees started doing better in the late 90's and so on. Then when the Red Sox improved, things really took off.

I am, and id like to see them stay there all year. They wasted all their money on hitters, and how have ran out of pitchers. Did you see that they fired their Performance Enhancement guy because too many people were getting injured? HEY, Devil Rays are doing great. I think they are close to the top in Home Runs. (Baldelli, Pena, Upton with 5, Crawford, Wiggington, Dukes, and Young with 4) Opposite of the Yankees, their pitching is also doing well. (Shields, Kazmir, Reyes are all doing great.) I am really excited to see the Yankees in last place and I hope they stay there all season. I can't believe they took Petite from the Astros. Well, GO DEVIL RAYS!!!

As a native Bostonian, I hope they lose 100 games this year. But I would settle for them not winning the division. Preferably the Red Sox will win the AL East, but anyone but the Yankees would be OK. In 2003 or 2004, the Yankees were tied with your Devil Rays for last place in the last week of May, yet they won the division.

I am absolutely thrilled! I am so sick and tired of hearing about the Yankees going to the playoffs yet another year. They have been a dynasty too long and need to let other teams into the playoffs. Its very boring seeing the same teams in the playoffs every year. Not very exciting.

Nope. As a Yankee fan, it does hurt to see them struggle, but its still early in the season. If you are enjoying it, you better suck it all in while you can because it won't last long. Go Yankees!!!!
