What does one have to do with the other. A cat is a pet, a mink is a rodent, related to a rat. Would you keep a rat as a pet? Let's be real here. No, you wouldn't keep a rat, so you wouldn't keep a mink around. A mink farm is a place where the animals are well kept and they are kept well and not killed out in the open like some other animals. Do you eat meat. Well, as long as you eat meat, you have no right to make any comments about people who wear fur coats. Cattle are slaughtered in a worse way then either minks or sables, so know your facts before you ask such a question. Unless you are a vegan you can't question someone's right to wear furn.

Have you seen those little minks - they are mean and ugly and are not pets!!!! There is a big difference between cats and minks. The fur itself is a tell-tale. Anyway, all that aside, cat hair is also very different depending on the cat - calico, siamese, shorthair, longhair, over 33 different varieties. None of which have hair that would be suitable to any covering except for them. Mink, and other skins with the type of fur used for coats has a thickness and a resiliance to weather, thus people in extremely cold weather, where their lives depend on the use of animal skins for their homes, clothing use them for these purposes.
About a mink coat purely for show or status - no, that is an inappropriate use of money and skins and doesn't seem to be a necessity here in the US.

MOST people will wear a mink coat? Where do you get that statistic? Of course people will not wear a coat made from kittens. Puppies, on the other hand.......... just kidding.

Um no I don't wear puppies or kittens but you need to think about this a little. Animals get killed all the time. It's human nature. What about all the meat we eat. Not to mention pure sport like hunting. And, animals kill each other all the time for food and believe it or not but sometimes they do it for pure fun. Cats kill mice ALL the time and they rarely eat them. so yeah real fur coats may not be right and I'm definately not saying its ok to make coats of real fur but a lot of people do so why dont you take your ideas and do something constructive with them like starting a petition? (I dont mean that in a snotty way. I'm being serious)

That's like me wondering why people think that drinking human breast milk beyond infancy is disgusting, yet adults will drink cow's milk, naturally meant for calves (baby cows) well into adulthood.
No, I would not wear fur, regardless of from which animal it came.

No way!! I don't wear real fur at all! If I get anything that has stuff on it that looks like fur I always make sure it's fake. We shouldn't be killing wild animals if we can make fake fur! It's wrong!
