rap to even be MUSIC? i don't. it's just talking fast, and it sounds horrible.

other question: whats your favorite type of music? mines rock, or punk rock, or heavy metal. things in that "genre."

I think rap is music..it's reciting poems/ a story to a beat...=) I truly like all genres of music, but I really like music with a beat that makes me want to get up and dance or music w/ true/real life or inspirational lyrics...=)

I think that Rap is overrated. To me, it's more of an option that a band could use. You know, how a lot of Rock albums have hard, fast songs; medium tempo songs; and then slow ballads. To me Rap would be that way - a variation that an artist could put on an album for variety. You know, maybe put on Rap song or two Rap songs, on an album of twelve songs. But I don't know that I would care to hear a whole album of it. But that may not matter anymore, as the album is going away in the download age.

My favorite types of music fall within mostly two Rock & Roll sub-genres. I like Hair-Metal; you know bands like:

Def Leppard; Balaam & the Angel; Night Ranger; the Scorpions; KISS; Whitesnake; the Cult; Bon Jovi; Van Halen; Motley Crue; Quiet Riot; Sammy Hagar; Great White; Aerosmith; Led Zeppelin; AC/DC; Hanoi Rocks; Y&T; the Bullet Boys; Dokken; King's X; Yngwie Malmsteen; Poison; Roxanne; ...etc.

Then I also like Power-Pop; you know bands like:

The Beatles; Big Star; Cheap Trick; Electric Light Orchestra; the Posies; Weezer; Teenage Fanclub; Third Eye Blind; the Scruffs; the New Pornograpers; Jellyfish; the Who; the Fountains of Wayne; L.E.O.; Bleu; the Hollies; the Kinks; Badfinger; Material Issue; the Pernice Brothers; the Prix; Van Duren; the Pyramidiacs;... etc.

No offense to the rap lovers out there, but I am kinda on the fence about this one. In a way, yes it is music-it's putting words and music together to express some sort of emotion or expirence. In another way, I do NOT think it to be music since there is no real change in pitch.

My favorite type of music is country and Broadway musicals. I also like Contemperary Christian.

Yes, just like punk rock or metal its rock. Rap has its own style and flavor just like rock which I love. But love all types of music from classic, choral, Latin etc.

rap is simply innercity and predominately black folk music...no different from white folks protest music of the 60's and early 70's. If ya don't like it...don't listen to it.
....and my favorite music is blues based rock and roll, but i listen to everything but pop country, opera, and polka.
