Any sitting president is not liked and Carter was no different. I remember that his economic policies were considered horrid (I was a kid at the time so memory is vague a bit). The absolute worst for Crater was the Iran hostage deal. He was looked at as a wimp on that deal and that is what ushered in the Reagan sweeping victory.

The absolute best for Carter was Three Mile Island. When that reactor starting melting down the country basically wrote it off as being gone. They were talking about explosions and how many people would die when it happened. If you want to see a real interesting documentary check out the history channels look back on this. But anyway, in a place where everyone was expecting everyone to die here comes Jimmy Carter walking down main street. Of course Carter's job in the Navy was nuclear engineer so he pretty much knew what was going on with the reactor. He took charge and pretty much got that situation taken care of. Not many presidents have ever done that.

Yes, I remember Jimmy Carter. His biggest challenge was the Iran hostage crisis. I was in college at that time. It's hard to begin to explain the whole way of thinking during that time. You know, back then we didn't have computers, and so much was different then. I don't think you will get answers here on Yahoo. I suggest you ask your parents. Ask them if they voted for Carter.

Jimmy Carter was not a raceist then and is not now. His economic policies and foreign policies were flawed leading to high interest, inflation and the Iran Hostige Crisis. When Carter was President, interest rates on home mortgages were 16 to 18 percent.

He was, and still is, a flaming anti semite. He also had no backbone and couldn't use any effective foreign policy because of his weak demeanor. The worst thing is that he didn't help the failing economy of the seventies at all. Reagan had quite a mess to clean when he entered office.

I heard on a biography program that he was a nuclear engineer on a submarine while in the Navy.
