I am in a radio contest in San Diego and as a challenge I have to attempt to get media coverage. I want to hang signs on as many freeway overpasses as possible and was wondering about the legality of doing that here in CA. Also, if anyone has any other suggestions as to how to get some media coverage (legally) that would be GREATLY appreciated. I know no one with media ties so all the help I can get would be outstanding! Thanks!

It is if 2 conditions are met.
1. You have to be employed by the department of transportation.
2. The sign has to be authorized by the department of transportation.

That is not what you had in mind, is it?

Call Caltrans or the CHP and ask them what the process is. I doubt you'll be able to hang anything from an overpass legally.
