Just curious if anyone own's a tarantula, also does anyone own
a Grammolstola rosea (Rose Hair) that they can handle?
What should you do to handle a tarantula you fear will lash out if
your not too careful?

I had a rose haired, and it was perfectly fine with being handled. We would stick our hand in the cage, and the taran would walk right on it, and then just wonder around exploring. It never even tried to bite or escape. We would have fun times screaming (it runs towards the scream) to give it some exercise, lol.

you just want to make sure that there are no loud noises that could startle it, and that you move very slowly- they react fast to quick motion, and a slow moving hand shouldn't bother them at all.

You really do not have to worry about the poison. Less than 1% of people actually are affected by it.

I had a Chilean Rose tarantula. I didn't feel I could handle her as she used to charge at my hand if it went anywhere near her!

Ideally, tarantulas should not be handled. They are fragile animals - being dropped can easily kill them. Also, there is absolutely no advantage to the spider for being handled, so it's best not to really for their sake - just enjoy them from the outside of their habitat! I never picked up my tarantula in all the time I had her - I got to hold a tarantula at a zoo once and that had to be enough for me because I knew I wouldn't be doing Spooky any favours if I picked her up.
