1 yard = 3 feet
1 square yard = 3 * 3 (9) square feet
1 cubic yard = 3 * 3 * 3 (27) cubic feet
1 four-dimensional cubic yard = 3 * 3 * 3 * 3 (81) 4-D cu. ft.

Such a retarded, outdated system. Only 3 nations left in the world deal with this system... Liberia, Myanmar and the USA.
However.... a cubic foot is 1X1X1 , as there are 3 feet in a yard. the a cubic yard is 3X3X3.... so a cubic yard is 27 times larger (more voluminous) than a cubic foot.

Well there are three feet in a yard. So a cubic yard would be a box 3ft * 3ft * 3ft. Thus containing 3*3*3 cubic foot boxes.
So there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard.
