As several thousand people have told me, all babies are different. Some don't crawl at all, just go straight to walking. If he has hit all his other milestones pretty much on time, then I wouldn't worry. One thing that I did with my son was to get him one of those mats that has things under it, so he will have something to do when he is on his tummy. Another idea is to place him on his tummy and put your hands behind his feet, giving him a push-off. Good luck.

Traditional hands and knees crawling tends to start developing somewhere between 7-10 months. So, your son is still at the young end of the spectrum. It will make you crazy to compare your child to any other as all babies are different. Some babies choose to roll, scoot, or commando-crawl instead of traditional crawling. Crawling and walking have no correlation to each other, some babies walk before they crawl and some babies never do crawl. If your son is a quiet, content baby he will not be as motivated as an active, inquisitive baby to figure a way to get where he wants to go. If your son has plenty of opportunity to play on the floor and you give him some "tummy time" each day, he will master each skill at his own pace. My youngest daughter did not crawl until she was a year old and did not walk until she was 14 1/2 months. Before that she got where she wanted to go by scooting along on her bottom. She is 9 now and is perfectly fine and healthy. My middle daughter walked at 10 months and had little use for crawling, she's 22 now and is also fine. I currently care for a little guy who is almost 14 months old and has been crawling for only about a month and he is just now pulling himself up to stand on furniture. Relax and enjoy each developmental stage of your baby.

I know it's sounds like something from the dark ages, but it is true that sometimes boys do develop their gross motor skills a little later than girls. Both my girls crawled at 7-8 months and were walking by 12 months. But my boy didn't crawl till 11 months and didn't walk flat on his feet till 18 months. Don't worry too much about it. Give your bub plenty of tummy time when he's up and being sociable, like just before a feed etc. Don't worry about what your friends' babies are doing. Every baby is different and will develop at their own rate. If he's not crawling by about 9 months or so, just mention it to your early childhood nurse.
Good luck!

I dont think many babies crawl at 7 months. The average age for sitting up is 6 months so if he is doing this I wouldnt worry. My daughter was 9 months before she crawled properly & she still started walking at around 12 months. Every baby is different. I would encourage him by putting him on his belly & putting a toy or something in front of him just out of reach but I wouldnt worry what all your friends babies are doing!

Don't stress. My son never crawled, he kind of rolled around to get to where he wanted to be. He went straight to walking and by 11 months he was a pro at it.
I guess you could try what someone else suggested and put him on the floor a lot. Maybe put his favorite toys in different parts of the room to motivate him to try to get to them. Prop him on his hands and knees to see how he reacts. Although, don't be disappointed if he doesn't respond. I did all those things with my son. I even got down on my hands and knees and would show him how to crawl. He would just stare at me and sometimes it would make him laugh. Then he would roll to me. lol
Anyway, enjoy the peace while you can. As parents we can't wait for our little ones to crawl or walk then once they do, all hell breaks loose. You can't keep them out of anything. They disappear from a room at the blink of an eye. It's like when we want them to start talking, but once they do they never stop. My son is now 12 and yeah, I am lucky if I ever get to get a word in.

There is nothing wrong with him not crawling yet. My daughter was 10 months old before she crawled. Some children never crawl and crawling is not considered a developmental milestone.

You can intice him with a toy or get down on the floor and crawl around yourself and let him watch you. Whether he crawls or not is a individual matter. Early crawlers tend to walk late as babies who don't take to crawling at all walk early. Don't fret your baby will take to it on his/her own. I also have friends who's babies are a little younger then my son who are crawling and he still is not. But I'm in no hurry! lol

All babies are different. My daughter crawled at 6 months, My son crawled at 9 months. Maybe he won't crawl at all. Some babies skip it all together.
