When working in the store today a man came up to me and said that he use to play for the St. Louis Cardinals and said his name was Vince Smith does any sports buff know of such a person?

what I have heard from lubetheduck I also heard from this man named Vincent Smith he said he was a pitcher for the Cardinals yet I still have no chance finding a card or any other info about this man! can someone email me with their knowledge at BlueSueder8706@aol.com

Fred Vincent Smith played for the 1917 St Louis Cardinals- unfortunatly he passed in 1961. So thats out... VInce Coleman was the man- but if the last name is Smith you're out of luck

The only name close to Vince Smith (assuming we're not actually talking about Vince Coleman or Ozzie Smith) is a Vinnie Smith who played in 1941 and 1946 for the Pirates.

A Vincent Smith played for the Pittsburgh Pirates as a catcher for a games each in 1941 and 1946.

Baseballreference.com does not list any other Vincent Smiths other than the Pirate catcher listed above.

There was Fred Vincent Smith, but he died in 1961, and so probably did not walk into your store today.

(The other Vince Smith mentioned above is a simulation player, so he probably didn't walk into your store either.)

There does not appear to be a real person who fits all the evidence offered.

Yes. Vince Smith was a pitcher for the cards from '61 to '67. His best season was '66 when he won 10 games. He was a Cardinal when they won the world series in '64 but did not pitch in the post season.
