If you are naming her after a grandmother or someone you loved named Edith, why don't you name her Eden, Edie, or Edyta (I saw that name on Dancing with the Stars.) or use Edith as a middle name? It's your baby, name her what you like and don't worry about what others think. Everytime I hear Edith, I think of Edith Bunker on All in the Family. Do you want people who remembers the show to call her "Dingbat?"

Personally i don't like "older" so i don't really like Edith. But my mom on the other hand still wants a grand baby Edith.

Wow! I really like that name. It's pretty, unique, and special in your own way. I don't think it sounds old ladyish.
Edith even means: Joyous and Glorious

Try not to get stressed, but remember this.

A babies name is given to an infant, passed on to the child he/she grows into, presented to a teenager, who gives it to an adult, and who finally lets it go into an elder. You either brighten a light, or break the lightbulb. If so many people think this is an old lady name, maybe you shouldn't give her the name in fear of being teased. But it really is a beautiful name that any daughter would be honored to hold. Edie (ee-dee) is really cute and simple too! Take your time, and have fun!

Good luck &&
hope i helped!!

I like the name. Not used a lot these days but you can pair it with a middle name that is a little more modern if you like.

If that's the name you love then go for it. I personally think of an older person. It was my great grandmother's name. I know some older classic names are coming back but I just don't really care for this one.

REMEMBER: This is just my opinion. She will be you child not mine. Name her what you love.

It does sound more like an older person's name, but the baby will eventually grow into it. Babies only stay babies for a year anyway. It's nice and old fashioned. I much prefer Eden personally. Or Meredith.
