I just bought a new computer and it came with Windows Vista Basic. TBH, I don't like it. Hardly any of my programs work on Vista without some kind of glitch or another. I just want to install my copy of XP Professional and get back to a happy life.... Soooo, what's the best way to go about doing this?

The best way is to load it outside windows, reformat your hard drive and install it. When you start up your computer, before entering windows, click boot from CD, and installs from there. You get a message asking if you want to delete your C:\ with windows, then just delete and install Windows XP. I tried it too, it was horrible. x.x

Should be as simple as booting up with the CD/DVD drive in the boot order prior to the hard disk. Load the MS Windows XP Professional CD, select to delete any existing partitions, format a new NTFS partition, and install as usual.

just pop your XP CD into your CD drive and reboot the computer.. It will walk you through the process.. You will have to save anything you want to keep to an external hard drive, or burn them to a CD.. like pics and personal files or they will be lost in the reformat... Good luck !
