OK, since the nitrogen and sodium atoms are the same on either side you won't get any help by altering the stoichiometry of those compounds. So the only thing that's left is O2. You need to add one oxygen to the right-hand side, so you could write:
NaNO3 ---> NaNO2 + 0.5O2
but people don't like fractional numbers, so you can multiply everything by two to get:
2NaNO3 ----> 2NaNO2 + O2
