As with all lab tests, an "equivocal" result means "maybe," and an additional confirmation test may be recommended. Equivocal results can be caused by cross-reactivity of other pathogens. For example, past chicken pox infection could cross-react on a herpes culture.
Many people who have herpes don't have symptoms. They may have had an outbreak or two in the past, but never have another. While it's unpleasant to have a herpes infection, it's not worth freaking yourself or others out. Herpes isn't the end of the world. You just have to manage it and be careful with your partners. It's not a reportable disease, but estimates peg it at a prevalence of 20% in the population. That's 1 in 5 adults, most of whom lead happy, healthy lives and relationships.
With that said, if you have had risk factors for herpes or any reason to believe you have herpes (infected partners, unusual lesions, etc.), you can ask for a test to confirm. Otherwise, you can call your doctor and ask, "Well, the test is borderline, but I haven't had symptoms. Do you think it's herpes?" and the doctor can make an assessment and give you a firm diagnosis.

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.
Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

I got diagnosed with herpes about 5 years back, when I was in college and had a spupid one night stand. I know many of women will say this but believe me I never did that sort of thing. I jus made a mistake that one time and, suddenly, it looked like I was going to have to live with the burden for the rest of my life. The awful part was thinking I could never date guys again. After all, who wants to go out with a person who has sores around her you-know-what? But after someone showed me this video https://tr.im/gYO8w everything has changed. Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This program gave me back the chance to be happy, and to experience true love.

Confused that you know so much yet you don't know what it means (???) Either way, you have greater than 25% chance that you have herpes Type 1 or Type 2. YES THIS APPLIES TO EVERYONE READING THIS ANSWER TOO!!! If you've ever had sex, you are quite likely to have this virus. You may be sneering and scoffing now, but go get tested - swabbed and blood - don't wait for the symptoms because if you're a guy, you probably have already ignored the symptoms anyway (because they may not be severe and they go away.)
