I have the BEST ANSWER!!!! It's a song by Carrie Underwood called "Starts with Goodbye." It's the one I listened to a lot when I had to say goodbye to someone who I didn't want to, but knew it was the best thing for me. Hope this one is perfect for you like it was me! Here's the lyrics for ya.

"Starts With Goodbye"

I was sitting on my doorstep,
I hung up the phone and it fell out of my hand,
But I knew I had to do it,
And he wouldn't understand,
So hard to see myself without him,
I felt a piece of my heart break,
But when you're standing at a crossroad,
There's a choice you gotta make.

[Chorus:]
I guess it's gonna have to hurt,
I guess I'm gonna have to cry,
And let go of some things I've loved,
To get to the other side,
I guess it's gonna break me down,
Like falling when you try to fly,
It's sad, but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life,
Starts with goodbye.

I know there's a blue horizon,
Somewhere up ahead, just waiting for me,
Getting there means leaving things behind,
Sometimes life's so bitter sweet.

[Chorus:]
I guess it's gonna have to hurt,
I guess I'm gonna have to cry,
And let go of some things I've loved,
To get to the other side,
I guess it's gonna break me down,
Like falling when you try to fly,
It's sad, but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life,
Starts with goodbye.

Time, time heals,
The wounds that you feel,
Somehow, right now.

[Chorus:]
I guess it's gonna have to hurt,
I guess I'm gonna have to cry,
And let go of some things I've loved,
To get to the other side,
I guess it's gonna break me down,
Like falling when you try to fly,
It's sad, but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life,
Starts with goodbye,
I guess I'm gonna have to cry,
And let go of some things I've loved,
To get to the other side,
Starts with goodbye,
The only way you try to find,
Moving on with the rest of your life,
Starts with goodbye,
Na na na na na na na.

OMG...Lonestar...I'm already there. He called her on the road From a lonely cold hotel room Just to hear her say I love you one more time But when he heard the sound Of the kids laughing in the background He had to wipe away a tear from his eye A little voice came on the phone Said daddy when you coming home He said the first thing that came to his mind Im already there Take a look around Im the sunshine in your hair Im the shadow on the ground Im the whisper in the wind Im your imaginary friend And I know Im in your prayers Oh Im already there She got back on the phone Said I really miss you darling Dont worry about the kids theyll be alright Wish I was in your arms Lying right there beside you But I know that Ill be in your dreams tonight And Ill gently kiss your lips Touch you with my fingertips So turn out the light and close your eyes Im already there Dont make a sound Im the beat in your heart Im the moonlight shining down Im the whisper in the wind And Ill be there until the end Can you feel the love that we share Oh Im already there We may be a thousand miles apart But Ill be with you wherever you are Im already there Take a look around Im the sunshine in your hair Im the shadow on the ground Im the whisper in the wind And Ill be there until the end Can you feel the love that we share Oh Im already there Oh Im already ThereWatch the video too!! Here's one about a lifelong love, and letting go of parents. I don't know if this would work, but it's worth a shot. I've linked to the CD in the sources section.

She'll take the painting in the hallway,
The one she did in jr. high
And that old lamp up in the attic,
She'll need some light to study by.

She's had 18 years to get ready for this day
She should be past the tears, she cries some anyway

Oh oh letting go
There's nothing in the way now,
Oh letting go, there's room enough to fly
And even though, she's spent her whole life waiting,
It's never easy letting go.

Mother sits down at the table
So many things she'd like to do
Spend more time out in the garden
Now she can get those books read too.

She's had 18 years to get ready for this day
She should be past the tears, she cries some anyway.

Oh oh letting go
There's nothing in the way now,
Oh letting go, there's room enough to fly
And even though, she's spent her whole life waiting,
It's never easy letting go.

Oh oh letting go
There's nothing in the way now,
Oh letting go, there's room enough to fly
And even though, she's spent her whole life waiting,
It's never easy letting go.

This one always tugs at my heartstrings. It holds out a little hope and a lot of love, but indicates, that at least for the present, the couple has to part:

STILL HOLDIN' ON - Clint Black & Martina McBride

lyrics:

There's something out there left for you
But it's not me
We reached a point of no return it's only right
I set you free
I know I'll have to turn away
But there's nowhere for my love to go
And there won't come a day
When I won't honor what we vowed
But I'll go on with my life
We can even say goodbye for now if
If that's what we have to do
But here in my heart
Even when my arms are empty darlin'
I'm still holdin' on to you
We can't deny that this one's out of our control
Stronger than the both of us and bound to take its toll
I can stand the test of time
And as far as I can see
There are no walls that we can't climb
Standing between you and me
But I'll go on with my life
We can even say goodbye for now if
If that's what we have to do
Here in my heart
Even when my arms are empty darlin'
I'm still holdin' on to you
There's a place you'll always be
No matter where you are
You're here with me
When the world is turnin' upside down
Together we can stand our ground
We can even say goodbye for now if
If that's what we have to do
But here in my heart
Even when my arms are empty darlin'
I'm still holdin' on to you
I'm still holdin' on to you
When I'm gone, when I'm gone I'm holdin' on

Oak Ridge Boys: Bridges and Walls

Some friends you'd cry for
You, I would die for
And I love you too much
To beg you to stay
You have your own plans
But it makes my heart sad
Watching my best friend walking away.

Love's never easy
And who knows what's fair
I guess I'm still feeling
What's no longer there
When hearts go to pieces
Love crumbles and falls
Like stones made of memories
From bridges and walls.

Hope tomorrow brings good news
'Cause I'm sure gonna miss you
If I look away now, please understand
'Cause my eyes refuse to see
Something I can't believe
The very best part of me, comes to an end.

Love's never easy
And who knows what's fair
I guess I'm still feeling
What's no longer there
When hearts go to pieces
Love crumbles and falls
Like stones made of memories
From bridges and walls.

Like stones made of memories
From Bridges and walls...
