my friend is leaving her husband. i think what keeps her in their marriage for more than 16 yrs is the comfort that her husband can provide. my friend took care of her husband and her kids half of her life and husband cheated, and she can't over it. she will end up with nothing if she leaves but she's not happy?

Then she should leave. Don't determine having something by posessions. Posession can be received, bought, stolen, thrown away and broken. If she leaves, in my opinion, she will have everything. She will have her freedom, happiness and life back! Those things are priceless to me! You only get one life and if God intended for us to settle then he wouldn't have created heaven! :)

Why she will end up with nothing? If he is cheating, she can get a good attorney and she can get half of what the have accumulate during the 16 years. She can even get the house and he has to leave. She should get some advise from a good attorney. Most of the attorneys work pro-bono, meaning they will get paid when she and her husband settle the divorce.

Self happiness is worth more than all the money in the world.

Let your friend be happy and enjoy her life to the fullest. If all she did for 16 years was provide a loving and nurturing home to someone who didn't appreciate it, then it is time for her to get out and have happiness. Life is too short.

Just plain dont get involved.

It would be nice if you could talk your friend out of this, but if shes been there that long, chances are shes not going to get out anytime soon. If you were to talk to her seriously about it she would probably see your point and agree with you, but wont necessarily act on it. She could just take it offensively.

The best you can do is let her know and then that be it. Other peoples marriages aren't a place to go poking about b/c of the dire consequences.

It sounds like she might be able to use some self esteem therapy or the like.

I would say that if she stays she would actually risk loosing herself. Just because she has kids with the guy doesn't necesarily mean she should stay with him. They may even do more harm to the kids if they do stay together when one isn't happy and the other isn't. Why do you think he's cheating? I think they would be better off just leaving the marriage regardless of what may come.

OH NO MY DEAR... she will end up with the most important thing herself esteem, nobody deserves to be cheated on. If she is a spiritual person she will be reward ten times more then what she is losing! Material things can always be replaced, and there are some good guys out there, their hard to find but she find that special someone, trust me!!

I know it sucks, but he's the a**. She has to do what makes her happy. And if it were me, I would be heartbroken, but the "spark" would be gone if he cheated. It would be difficult, but I would leave him.

It is not your problem. If she is willing to go out there on her own with little to eat but feeling happy, all power to her.
