short answer: "they are fooled by their media, leaders and politicans"

If you talk to a Muslim person from middle east, you will notice they think everything bad that always have happend to them is because of Israel and USA (they see the whole Israel, USA, Britian, Denmark and other western countries as a only one enemy!)
This is what you can read in most Middle Eastern media. I have seen anti semitism statements from muslims when the Danish newspaper printed some unfunny cartoons of the Muslims prophet! They held Israel responsible for something that had absolutely nothing to do with them!
Obviously people of both Palestinians and Jews seek peace and they are tired of war, but the thing that doesnt let the peace happen is Politics which have made people believe the peace will be achived when the other side is gone!

Because the Palestinians have this way of expressing thier dissatisfaction with the current status quo that involves body parts flying about independent of the persons they were originally attached to.

Seriously, though, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is at the center of the problems in the Middle East - it's not the cause of all of them, but it is the epicenter.

You see, when the British Mandate of Palestine (having been carved out of the Ottoman Empire following WWI) was handed over to the Israelis as thier new, post-Holocaust, homeland, the Arab states in the region, most notably Egypt & Syria, objected - violently, repeatedly, and unsuccessfully.

As a result, Israel found itself with some extra territory captured from the states that attacked it.

The Arabs living in what is now Israel, and those of the remaining 'occupied territories,' now call themselves Palestinians, in reference to the Mandate of Palestine, and are committed to a gruelling - and, for almost 60 years, unsuccessful - campaign of terrorism to destroy Israel. Similarly, Israel has maintained a robust military and vigorously defended itself - including many extreme and unpopular police actions, leading to charges of 'genocide' (one of the least successful genocides in history, with the population of Arab-Muslim Palestinians rising from a little over a million at the end of the British Mandate to over 9 million today).

The survival of Israel was a blow to Arab pride, and led to the political cause of Arab Nationalism largely fading away. It's been replaced with 'Islamism' - the fusion of Islam into a political ideaology. And, /that/ is what is driving the current batch of international terrorists like Al Qaeda.

So the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is improtant because it inderectly spawned Islamism, and is still serves as a symbol of the broader Islamist conflict with the west.

Simple. Arabs (there is no such people as "Palestinians", that is a fiction invented in the 1970's) don't want Jews to live. Jews want to live. No room for compromise.

If the Europeans felt so guilty over what they had done to European Jews for 1900 years, why didn't they carve a territory for them in Germany?

Oh no, they had to create a nation for the Ashkenazi Jews (Russian Khazar converts, Slavs, many with German blood after centuries living in Central Europe) and place them in Semitic territory, where Mizrahim Jews (Semitic Jews) and Arabs (another Semitic people) lived peacefully.

Because "palestinians" want to kill innocent Israelis who only want to live normal lives for absolutely no reason other than they're not muslim.

It's been that way since 1947 when Israel was created. The PLO and Hamas want Israel eliminated/wiped off the map/destroyed/etc...
