True. From the moment I get up each morning, I try to have a pleasant day. Things can, and do, go wrong but if I don't begin with the right attitude everything is downhill from that moment on.

You bet it does. If one crawls out of bed and mops around, grumpy and all out of sorts, usually the day will be that way, at least the first part of the day.

Life is a reflection of your attitude towards it, if you are mad and upset all the time, then you will always find something to be upset about and angry about. But it is true, faking even happiness can change your attitude for in that very faking you begin to put on the cloak of laughter, love, expectation and happiness with all that you come into contact with, even if it does not met up to the standards of everyone else. For in your attitude you control that which the outside can not. You are the power behind your life and can be the source of light for someone else to follow.

I don't think so. Perhaps our attitude determines our perception and our emotional level. I have seen this touchy, feely, fuzzy, wuzzy kind of stuff posted at work, and I have never agreed with it.

I heard a story about a young man who was supposed to keep the wood box filled with wood for the fire. One afternoon he neglected to do his chore. Late that night the fire went out. His father came and woke him up, asking him to get some wood for the fire. The boy was cold and did not want to get out into the snow to gather wood. He said he did not "feel" like it. His father looked at him, shivered, and replied, "Son, what's feelings got to do with it."

Then there is the Zen story about the old monk working under the hot sun. Everybody asked him why he was out working under such a hot sun. His reply - he was working under the hot sun because the sun was in the sky.

I think the life we have is determined in part from past karma, and I don't think that the way to erase karma is by being all "happy" and walking around with a fake smile for everyone. The best way to make your life better is by doing what you have to do. Duty and honor, God and Country, attention to and devotion to these determine what kind of life we have.

That is true. From personal experience I know that when I have a positive outlook on life in general, things tend to go more smoothly day to day. Sometimes I find it difficult to stay positive. Work and certain everyday stresses can be a challenge. I do allow myself to be cranky and vent but I never stay negative. I have found that it's much easier to be a negative person. Being positive takes work for me, but it's worth it.

Yes, I agree. The more I take deliberate control of my feelings and emotions, the better and more smoothly my life flows. Everyday on my way to work I repeat affirmations about my intentions to have peaceful, joyful, harmonious interactions with everyone I meet or talk with or work with during the day. And I usually do.

Our subconscious mind which is the central processing unit of our life does not differentiate between what we believe or what we imagine. It simply manifests in our life what we dwell on most. The person that keeps saying and thinking that he can't afford luxuries in life will never have any. The beauty of understanding how to change our life is that we only have to imagine it to create it. Then be consistent in that thought focus. It is called "fake it till you make it".
