I seem to remember maybe 10 years ago or so that the Rangers and Orioles traded their Managers and a few players as well in mid season. I might be making this up in my head, can this happen? Can a Manager (the main manager like Joe Torre) be traded to another team for their manager like a player can?

I wouldn't say trade... bu they can hire and fire managers. They aren't like the players. They need to be fired or quit. Then the team will shortly after hire or find a new replacement manager. Usually they leave because they find a better deal with money because it seems like these days players and coaches and managers are only in it for the money. You see?

No rule against it in Major league baseball-the 1967 Washington Senators traded their manager Gil Hodges for pitcher Bill Dennehy is most recent example. The Senators should not have made the deal-Hodges was a better manager than Dennehy was a player.

Yes, it happened in 1960 - the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians actually did trade managers!

Jimmie Dykes went from Detroit to Cleveland, while Joe Gordon went from Cleveland to Detroit.

The Cleveland GM made the trade.

It has happened, but only in the long-long ago, when player-managers were not so rare a species. The last of those was Pete Rose. Generally, no.

I don't think so. The only way would be if the manager was also a player.
