I'm just curious because I have always liked that name, but I think it's not a real name, it has been invented or something.
Do parents name children like that?

It hasnt been popular for a while but thats what you want. Something that is not your everyday baby! Everyone I know who is having a boy is naming him Aiden and everyone having a girl is usin rose as the first or middle name! Wendy is a beautiful name if you ask me. And yes plenty of parents make up their own names for babys. Like one lady i know is naming her girl Marankya....???? Go with something simple, thats what is popular, simple to say and spell names!

In this day and age it's not a very common name, but I have known many Wendy's in my life. Every name had to be "invented" at some point. How else would people create names? Your point makes no sense. Wendy is most definitely a "real" name.

Wendy was invented... but so is every other name... Wendy was invented for the story of Peter Pan. If you like it, go for it. It's a million times better than the also invented Nevaeh. And names gotta come from somewhere...

Wendy is 350th on the 2005 top 1000 list from The Social Security Administration. 883 little girls got that name.

It was invented by Sir James Barrie in 1904 for the big sister character in his play, Peter Pan. The story goes that he took it from the nickname "Fwendy-Wendy" used for him by a young girl acquaintance.

I know a couple of girls in their 20's who have the name Wendy. Try spelling it Wendi. It's a new way to spell a classic. If your daughter asks you why you named her that tell her that it was from Wendy on Peter Pan. It will make her feel special.

I don't really know anyone named Wendy but it doesn't sound like a made up name to me. I kinda like it. It's cute and different. Good Luck.
