Its cradle cap and you can put baby oil on his head and try to work it out when they get older it goes away but i would put baby oil on my kids and work it out by brushing it with a baby brush and gently scratching it off.

It's cradle cap. It's sooo common. Babies can't regulate the oil their scalp produces, so they get cradle cap. Before the bath (NOT AFTER) use an oil to soften the scales. Baby oil is ok, if that's all you have, but, if you can find something without mineral oil, that's even better. Use a gentle shampoo and warm (not hot) water, making sure that you rinse both the oil and soap well. After bath time, rub the scalp with a soft cotton towel. Resist the urge to pick or peel the chunks of skin off. You could make the baby's head bleed or give him an infection. Cradle cap usually goes away after a few weeks or months without much special attention. Try putting a cap on the baby if the look of it bothers you.

Cradle cap can look a bit yellowy and sort of moist. It can be peeling and it can look like dry skin. It's just skin that can't shed....
Try plain old Head and Shoulders. It won't hurt your baby. If the cradle cap goes away that's what it is. If not then consult your pediatrician.

its cradle cap b y what you explain
buy a shampoo especially for cradle cap they sell it at walgreens it has a winnie the pooh on it and i heard it works good also what you can do is:
put baby oil on her head and leave it on for about 1-2 hrs than bath her and wash the baby oil out then with the shampoo kinda massage but use your finger nails at the same time to scrub that stuff off but do it gently b/c if your too ruff about it she can bleed when the syellowish stuff comes off and youll leave scars or make it worse.
do this every day or other day when ever you bath her and with in 1 month itll be gone
if you can try putting oil on her head as less as possible after you bath her to help the cap to diminish
be patient dont try to take all the yellowish stuff off b/c youll make it worse so scrub really gently it worked for my niece also when you finish bathing her make sure you dry her hair off good b/c the moisture in her hair can make her have cradle cap and dont put no knid of hat or whatever on her head b/c the moister will make it worse

The only person that can say what it is and really know what it is is your Pediatrician. It could be cradle cap or it could be something else like Eczema like my son had, he had the same symptoms and it wasnt even cradle cap. So talk to your Ped. and go from there, baby might have to get treatment to his scalp.

That's what my daughter's cradle cap looked like. It made her head look dirty which upset me because she has no hair. I asked my doctor and this is what he told me to do. Massage her shampoo in her hair with a soft bristle baby brush. Get a soft bristle toothbrush and massage baby oil onto the area. GENTLY, they still have soft spots. Keep their little head lotioned up and try that cradle cap shampoo they have a Target that is made by Disney. The bottle is little and green with Winni the Pooh on it with Tigger and Piglet. Good luck.

You've described cradle cap.
Gently rub some baby oil on the baby's head. Let it sit a bit then use a soft baby brush to loosen the dried skin.

That is cradle cap. Mustela makes a great shampoo for newborns and it works great on cradle cap without making their hair all greasy
