Does anyone know if you can pay some type of cover charge to use Mandalay Bay's pool facilities?

There is absolutely no way to get into Mandalay Bay's pool without a room key for a room that is currently checked in. They change the keys every month so don't waste your money on eBay, and even then they swipe your card through a reader so if you checked-out yesterday you can't get in today. If you ask about a "cover charge" they will just quote you the rate on a room for the night and tell you to go to the front desk to check-in.

Look, each of these hotels have between 2 and 4 thousand rooms in them and there are like two dozen hotels on the Strip. Can you imagine if everyone showed up at the Mandalay Bay pool at the same time? These hotels are not in the pool business; the pools are only there to attract customers to the hotel. You have the use of whatever pool facilities you hotel has and that is as it should be and that is how it is at any hotel. If you like a good pool and are on a budget there are plenty of choices. Monte Carlo has 4 pools including wave pool and a lazy river. The Rio has three including one with a sand beach and waterfall and another for serious swimmers and a shallow wading pool. Always bring a few bucks with you to tip the people who find you a seat and towel. *
