just to be clear, no bridges were burnt down. it was an over pass connector ramp for two freeways that lead to and from the bridge. Not the same thing as the bridge. just east of the bridge is what is called the macarthur maze. it is a criss cross of highways 80, 880, 980, 580.

if you are coming from the north pay or richmond, you will not have any problems going to or from the city, except maybe traffic. If you are going to the city from oakland, east, bay etc. there are alternate routes. and ditto for going back.

check out caltrans website, or any of the local news stations such as kron4.com, kpix.com, ktvu, and sfgate.com. All of these websites will offer alternate routes.

bart and the ferries are also adding add'l services, so if you can stay off the road do so.

The roads leading into San Francisco aren't affected (other than by traffic going south onto 580/880).

Depending where you're coming from, you could use the Golden Gate Bridge, Dumbarton or San Mateo bridges.

Actually, that roadway does not go into San Francisco. It goes away from San Francisco. There are many alternate routes around it.

Yes of course, that is just the main access route. No major city has one road in and out. Also depends on where you are going to (which area) and where you are traveling from. Check out Yahoo maps.
