Shelly,
There is more then one answer to a groups view of their stance. By asking I hope to see what the majority of the group feels. I put this second half of the question to keep the original free from ranting. Thank you for putting your response on this question.

I am tech. a liberal, but this party has moved so far from the mainstream I don't even really associate with it anymore.
Originally, Liberalism was about freedom, education and the growth of the socioeconomic class for all.
These days it has just become a way for people to feel like they are rebelling against the man.
Its becoming ridiculous. People just argue against things because the opposing side is for it.
It has become some sort of a controlled anarchy. A "do as I say, not as I do" party.
Take gun control, liberal celebs are all for it, yet they have armed guards? That makes no sense. Nobody should have guns unless they ok it.

I find it interesting how the redistribution of wealth and making the wealthy pay more is on every ones list. If you take a good look at the people that run our government in DC most of them are wealthy and the people who control both parties are wealthy . Do you really think that they are going to allow their money to be taken away and given to the middle class and the poor I don't think so. In the end the burden is put on the working class.I think it is time people start thinking for them-selves .and stop letting the party think for them

Historically, a liberal is someone who believes the government has the right to make laws not expressly outlined in the constitution (if it doesn't say it we can do it) while a conservative feels that they can only work within the confines of the Constitution. More recently liberals have been likened to socialist with the radical redistribution of wealth through government programs.

CURRENT ISSUES WHERE LIBERALS AND DEMOCRATS ARE MOST ACTIVE:
abortion (killing babies)
euthanasia (killing old people)
anti-War on Terror (no longer anti-war)
Darfur relief (totally ignoring genocide in Iraq)
animal rights (not human rights)
special rights (not equal rights)
global warming (even at the risk of the environment)
getting republicans out of office any way they can (obviously self-motivated)
ISSUES THAT LIBERALS SAY THEY BELIEVE IN BUT DON'T ACT ON IT:
minimum wage (it was attached to the anti-War on Terror bill, it was not offered on a bill of it's own)
corruption in government (the entire environment in WDC is corrupt, and the new democratic Congress just talks and changes nothing)
supporting the troops (they can't speak on the war without calling our military service members losers in one way or another)
civil rights (Christians are trampled on by liberals daily)
equal rights (not since 1964)
women's rights (only American women, not Iraqi or Afghani women, and certainly not Muslim women)
diversity (liberals are usually the first to discriminate against white Christian men)
racial equality (liberals are always the first to mention racial differences and the last to address them)

Wow, thanks for the insight into how ignorant many of you are. How are you so against something that you clearly know nothing about? Or is that it... You don't understand it, therefore it frightens you and you're just automatically against it? Interesting...
