Claire seems more like the name... Clare just seems like someone misspelled something or forgot the rest of a word. Claire is more balanced I think...

Claire does seem slightly more feminine, but I actually like Clare better. My name is Gail, but I prefer the spellling Gale-
so the Clare spelling is along those same lines. Maybe it just seems more "pricise" without the i to dot- not a very logical reason, but........ what can I say.

If it were for a girl, I would go with Claire. If it were for a boy, I would go with Clare. The people I know with the name Claire are females. I know 2 Clares, both males, both older gentlemen. One of my favorite names is Clarissa, the name of my grandfather's sister. My husband never cared for it. We have 3 girls and none of them are Clarissa.
