I have, before going around the world i added this vaccination to one of many. And i Have to say i had some pretty close encounters with monkeys in Asian zoos. And wild dogs on the streets from Greece to Cuba.

Have you been vaccinated for rabies?
What other vaccines do humans and animals get?

Don't know about humans I'm afraid, other than polio, influenza, measles mumps and rubella - that's all I can think of that I've had. Oh, and tuberculosis.

It depends where in the world you come from, but dogs are vaccinated against canine distemper, parvo virus, canine parainfluenza and leptospirosis. Cats are vaccinated against feline influenza and enteritis at a minimum. There are also vaccines for feline leukaemia, and one for FIV although this is in its early stages (of unknown efficacy, not currently available in England). Rabbits are vaccinated against myxomatosis and viral haemorrhagic disease.

Rabies is not endemic to England anymore thanks to a rigorous programme of vaccination, elimination of stray animals an import/export of animals control. These programmes are in force in other countries, like America, to attempt to eradicate rabies from other regions. The ultimate aim of all vaccines is to get all animals vaccinated so these diseases are eradicated from regions as well.
