80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

If you're an evolutionist, the purpose of life is to leave a legacy: to leave your own mark on the world, that will live on after your death, be it in a genetic form (by having children), in business, or in some other arena of achievement.

If you're a spiritualist, the purpose of life is to become more aware, or closer to, your chosen form of spirituality - often, also for the purpose of "life after death" in some form.

To achieve either, you need to discover for yourself two things: who you are; and what (or who) you love. Once you know those two things, the meaning of (your) life will become very clear to you. :)

You are in this life because you didn't do it right the first time. You need to be a ggod person and do as your will tells you to. If you get it right this time you will not have to come back. If you get it wrong you will be asking this question again.

there is no meaning of life. people just want to think that we're here for a reason, so they can feel satisfied or special.
there's no meaning of life, no afterlife, no way of knowing how we got here, no big secret or mystery of life. life is life, and accept and enjoy it, because its the only thing you'll ever have

Booze, women, and money. LOL.

Seriously though, there is no point. Its all random. If there was a point, every thing would explode into non existence once that point as achieved.
