Get an apple. Even the lowest end macbook model blow the doors off of the other PCs out there for the same price. But that's not even the best reason. Macs are really stable machines so you are getting your moneys worth right out of the starting gate. It won't get buggy or SLOW and you can even run lots of popular windows apps without installing windows (if you use a program called Crossover Mac by Codeweaver) If you do decide to install a Windows OS, you are really buying two computers for the price of one great computer. It would be foolish to every by a PC again now that Macs are Windows friendly.
Good Luck

I own a Dell notebook and I love it. That said, a few of my friends bought MacBooks (not pro) and I like them more than my Dell.
Do you play games often on your computer? If so go with the Dell. If you edit music, surf questionable sites on the web or just want ease of use go with Apple due to the fact that they arent affected by spyware or adware.
One great thing about Macs is that you turn them on, and boom--its ready to go. Windows computers can take a long time to start up. Apple's sale of Macs and Mac books has gone up at least 10% consecutively every year for at least 3 years for a reason.
One drawback of Macs is that you'll pay at least $200 more for the same power that you can find in a Dell. That said, some people feel like not having to worry about viruses or internet slowdowns due to spyware is worth it.

Hve you visited the Dell online store yet? I am the owner of three different Dell Pc's Two are desktop and the other is a XPS M1710 laptop. I have over twelve years experience with owning Dell Pc's with little problems. I have never owned anything by Macintosh and have never found a reason to. I think the Dell are the most affordable and budget oriented Pc"s around. No I don't work for them either. I would suggest you take a look for yourself and make your own decision. Good luck. Here check 'em out....http://www.dell.com/
Hope it helps

Wager in a few factors: Price and desired performance.
Price: You are going to pay more for an Apple but it's supposedly more secure. Dell is cheaper but open to more hacks because of Windows. Both have great warranty and service deals.
Desired performance: If you are going be doing a lot of paper writing, spreadsheets and basic office work, get the Dell. If you are going to doing a lot of movie editing or music modifying, go for the apple.
Both are great computers but you need to weigh the options for what you are going to be using it for and what your budget is.

if you are getting a laptop i recommend an acer aspire with a turion x2 processor, great for college students, has a built in camera and a 160 gig hard drive. apples are easy, but once they break no one works on them hardly.. and dells just are horrible. of course if you want the best, you want an alienware

...apple computers are really expensive...
and normally used by graphic designers, 3d animators and 2d specilists... normally because it runs softwares such as photoshop, illustrator, after effect, cinema 4d (apple only) much faster and stable then pc computers.
You'll be happy with any of the standard pc laptops that are available in the market. (Assuming general uses.. such as web surfing, word... etc)

if your going to college i would say that you should get an apple because it will last you all 4 years (my sister went to college with a dell and it is constantly broken and very unreliable)
Also it gives you everything that you would need for your classes.

Get a MacBook or MacBook Pro. You won't be disappointed. If you need to, you can even run Windows on it.
p.s. If you get any "advice" from "Ms. Dell" on this board regarding this question. Ignore it, he/she is a troll.
